Our Story
Who We Are
Golf Code IQ™ was founded in a Wisconsin golf shop by a PGA Professional dedicated to growing the game and welcoming new golfers, alongside a lifelong golfer with Rules of Golf certification, golf retail experience, and a passion for helping players of every skill level. United by a shared vision, they created Golf Code IQ to make the game more enjoyable, accessible, and respectful for everyone.
Industry Perspective
In the Sports Illustrated article American Golfer Licensed, John Schwarb explored the idea of golfer licensing as a thought-provoking and satirical look at golf etiquette, course care, and player responsibility.
Reflecting on the topic, Schwarb later commented:
"I wish all players would have to learn how to fix ball marks and other small etiquette principles."
While Golf Code IQ™ does not advocate licensing golfers, we do believe education improves the experience for everyone. Golf Code IQ™ was created to help golfers learn the rules, etiquette, pace of play, and course readiness standards that contribute to a more enjoyable game.

Where It Started
Day after day, they heard the same concerns from golfers and course staff: slow play, unrepaired ball marks, unfilled divots, unraked bunkers, cart rule violations, and a lack of golf etiquette awareness.
As golf has grown and welcomed millions of new players, many enter the game without understanding its etiquette, pace of play expectations, and course care practices. That's where Golf Code IQ™ comes in.
